Valentia Technologies has welcomed the launch of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora’s enhanced Online GP Care service, built using Valentia’s OctansCare digital health platform.
The new platform provides a simpler digital front door through which people can compare participating healthcare providers, appointment options and pricing before connecting with available care. It is intended for situations where someone cannot see their usual GP, needs care after hours, is travelling or cannot secure a timely appointment.
The platform was delivered through a three-party arrangement involving Health New Zealand as the client and commissioning organisation, Valentia Technologies as the technology provider, and Whakarongorau Aotearoa as the delivery and coordination partner.
At the centre of the solution is OctansCare, Valentia Technologies’ configurable digital front door platform. Rather than requiring healthcare organisations to adopt a standard, off-the-shelf model, OctansCare can be tailored to the services, workflows and communities of individual healthcare providers.
“Health services and the communities they support have different needs. A digital front door should reflect those differences rather than forcing every provider into the same model,” said Malik Rizwan, Executive Lead, Valentia Technologies.
“OctansCare gives healthcare organisations the flexibility to create digital access pathways that fit their services, while making it easier for people to find and connect with appropriate care. We are proud that our platform is supporting this important national initiative.”
The launch builds on Health New Zealand’s broader Online GP Care programme and its work to expand access to online consultations through community settings, including pharmacies, rural health providers and urgent-care services.
“Digital healthcare works best when technology connects people, healthcare providers and established community services rather than operating as a standalone channel. This collaboration demonstrates how a flexible technology platform, effective service coordination and strong community partnerships can work together to make healthcare easier to access.” said Malik Rizwan.
