Welcome to National Immunisation Solution (NIS)

The National Immunisation Solution (NIS) programme of work is in progress. The NIS will be delivered over several phases during 2022 and will closely align with the Ministry of Health’s national data and digital programmes including HIRA and Health Sector Payments & Agreements - HSAAP.

The NIS is different from both the current National Immunisation Register (NIR) (which it will replace) and the COVID-19 Immunisation Register (CIR) (which it will eventually supersede). It is beginning with an initial rollout to support the influenzas 2022 campaign with the capture and reporting of flu vaccines delivered, due to start 1st April 2022. The NIS will continue to evolve and develop throughout the remainder of 2022.

Our intent is to be able to provide Health Software Suppliers the ability to build API integrations into the future solution. We will be providing the sector with more information on this in the coming months.

This is an exciting new part of the journey for the National Immunisation Programme and will be the first step to supporting wider immunisation across New Zealand.
