NZTech are calling upon Tech firms, businesses and employers to come forward and provide valuable insight into skills and training needs for the digital technology sector.
The digital technology sector in Aotearoa is one of the fastest growing segments of our economy and has been a critical source of domestic economic growth. Given the pace of change internationally and the competition globally for those with technology skills, growing and upskilling the technology workforce is an urgent priority.
The Digital Technologies Industry Transformation Plan points out that to enable scaling up and transformation of the state of skills in the digital tech industry, significant commitment, investment, and contribution from all stakeholders – Government, industry, and the education sector, is needed.
Together, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education, NZTech, and Toi Mai WDC are conducting an online survey to identify the digital tech skills needed by organisations in New Zealand that employ digital technology workers. The survey aims to gather valuable information from industry to ensure the right skills are developed at the right time, alongside the skills pipeline from entry to career progression.
