What we do
The Consortium for Medical Device Technologies (CMDT) and MedTech Research Network represent Aotearoa New Zealand's national industry research network, dedicated to advancing medical technologies. Acting as a central point of contact, CMDT connects stakeholders to New Zealand’s extensive capabilities and resources in MedTech, fostering collaboration across science, clinical translation, and commercialisation. Through partnerships with leading institutions including Auckland University of Technology, Callaghan Innovation, and the Universities of Auckland, Canterbury, Otago, and Victoria University of Wellington, CMDT strengthens the innovation ecosystem. It brings together researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and government organisations to enable sustainable growth, improve healthcare outcomes, and build scale in the MedTech sector. CMDT also engages with Māori and Pacific communities to ensure equitable healthcare improvements across Aotearoa.
