Aotearoa New Zealand Interoperability Lab (ANZIL) Launches – First Event May 16-20

S23M Healthcare Solutions has launched the not-for-profit Aotearoa NZ Interoperability Lab (ANZIL) and had an establishment meeting with the founding members in March. ANZIL is the Aotearoa New Zealand partner to the Asia eHealth Information Network (AeHIN) Community of Interoperability Labs (COIL), around Asia and the Middle East. The COIL Labs seek to facilitate health information systems interoperability, based on standards, with a heavy focus on FHIR®, and the International Patient Summary (IPS), as well as SNOMED® CT, especially the free SNOMED subset available to low income countries that supports codes for use in IPS Resources. However, ANZIL is a member-driven organisation, and open to exploring any de-facto or de-jure standards-based interoperability that our members are using.

The ANZIL Lab membership structure allows maximum engagement, starting with just $50 per annum for curious individuals, and then a tiered membership fee for organisations of different sizes. Membership information and applications are here.

Members, and new participants that join us before 16 May can attend the first Annual Creative Collaboration event for free. The overarching theme of the event is “What do the ANZIL members wish to achieve during the first year”.

It is held in an online variation of the Open Space format workshop structure running between 16 May and 20 May 2022. The workshop includes a 2-hour interactive kick-off, as well as a week of asynchronous online collaboration on the topics submitted by our members. The workshop will conclude with a 30-minute presentation of results and a 30-minute closing roundtable to coordinate agreed follow-up activities. The total amount of engagement is intended to be equivalent to a one day workshop, spread over the week. The topics to be discussed, and where you choose to learn or contribute knowledge is completely members' choice.

As with all ANZIL activities, the event will have guests from AeHIN and guests with lived experience from underserved and intersectional communities in Aotearoa, as well as vendors, standards authors, health practitioners and other guests that can inform the motivations for interoperable health information exchange, as well as the mechanisms and governance frameworks in which health information is shared and used.
