Medtronic, the world's largest medical technology and device company, launched the APAC Innovation Challenge under the Medtronic Open Innovation Platform, which aims to build capabilities and accelerate innovations to improve access to healthcare with market-centric solutions. The key themes of the challenge, which called for the best innovative ideas from across APAC to address real world healthcare needs, included:
- Life Transforming Technologies
- Better Outcomes for All
- Experiences that put People First
- Insight Driven Care
Out of 323 entries across 46 different countries, the 5 winning healthcare companies were announced at Medtronic's Innovation Conference in Singapore on March 16, which was held in parallel with the final pitch for the 10 finalist companies. As a result of the win, The Clinician has secured a potential collaboration with Medtronic valued up to US$200,000 for a pilot in APAC.
Tamaryn Hankinson, CCO and Co-Founder of The Clinician, said: “It is very exciting for our company and digital health platform to be recognised as a winner of the Medtronic APAC Innovation Challenge, especially given the number and quality of companies that entered”
”We have always seen our platform as a critical innovation for helping providers, payers and life science companies to leverage patient-generated health data and drive more more personalised, patient-centric and outcomes-driven care. This win will help us accelerate our growth and get our platform in the hands of more providers and patients, helping improve health outcomes and clinical workflows. We are still in the early stages of our journey but we are very excited for what's to come!”
Medtronic Australasia Vice President and Managing Director, Liz Carnabuci, who was on the judging panel said, “Congratulations to The Clinician for its achievement. This accolade is testament to the many healthcare technology innovations in ANZ and MAIC is an extension of Medtronic's commitment to local innovation, that has the potential to go regional.”
