Dr Natalie Thorne is the Chief Scientific Officer for Genomical®, a GIMSTM (Genomic Information Management System) that supports labs to efficiently and securely conduct accredited clinical genomic data workflows. Nat has over 25-years of experience in bioinformatics and genomics.  Her expertise spans multiple disciplines: from computational biology, healthcare and pathology to software development and data governance.  In 2022, Nat was named one of 25 Brilliant Women in Digital Health and one of 25 across Australia for the WILD program for women leaders in STEM.

Nat will provide an overview of Genomical, the first GIMS platform (Genomic Information Management System) specifically designed for secure, interoperable, and cost-effective genomics in healthcare.

She will discuss how adoption of a national GIMS platform, like Genomical, can rapidly advance New Zealand’s genomics capability – connecting labs, clinical services, and research; and enabling automated genomic testing, efficiencies through ethical and clinical reuse of data, data sovereignty, data repatriation, and data sharing.”
